Before joining Hotaling, Kayla built her career in wealth advisory, guiding investment and planning decisions for families across the country. This background gives her a unique perspective that combines a fiduciary mindset with deep technical expertise in insurance and estate planning. She has advised hundreds of families on wealth transfer and protection strategies and has led multigenerational planning conversations with clarity, compassion, and precision.
Kayla is also an educator and advocate. She taught insurance planning for Rice University’s Certified Financial Planner® program and currently serves as Board Chair of Dream Big Books, a national nonprofit focused on empowering children through storytelling, literacy, and early financial education.
She also created “Edutainment,” a signature initiative designed to help the next generation engage with financial topics in fun, accessible ways. This approach continues to be a cornerstone of her mission to reshape how families talk about wealth, values, and legacy.
In 2025, Kayla launched The Fifth Draft, a coaching and educational platform designed to help women step into their next chapter with financial confidence and personal power. She was also named a finalist for the Houston Business Journal’s Women Who Mean Business Award in recognition of her leadership, innovation, and impact on the industry.
